Federal Environment Minister Rona Ambrose is to be co-chair of
the Crossing Boundaries National Council, formed to promote the
development of Canada as an information society.
Ambrose has been a co-chair of the Council's cross-country
consultation on federalism, Citizen-Centred Federalism: Rethinking
Canada for the Information Age, with John Milloy, Parliamentary
Assistant to the Ontario Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Marie
Bountrogianni.
As Council co-chair, she replaces Tony Valeri, House leader in
the former Liberal government who lost his Hamilton seat in the
Jan. 23 federal election.
Ambrose began working with the council in 2003 and became a full
member last year. Her Council co-chair is Dan Bader, Deputy
Minister of Municipal Affairs in Alberta.
